St. Michael the Archangel Church in Dunseith, ND

The mission of St. Michael the Archangel parish is to bring about Jesus Christ’s Kingdom on earth, as it is in heaven, through living and embracing our Catholic faith in worship, education, family, works of mercy and evangelization.  With the power of God’s love and the aid of St. Michael the Archangel and the Blessed Virgin Mary, we shall enter into battle against the forces of darkness in the Turtle Mountain.

St. Michael's Parish News!!!  (Fri., Mar. 27, 2020)

--Today, the above "Parish News" was my first video to ever edit!!!  I still have a lot of learning to do....but enjoy!!!!

--Today, we attempted to video the Stations of the Cross to post online.  We thought we had done a really good job until we watced the video and the camera had accidentally been put on "Slow Motion Mode" after the 1st Station.  I later had a lot of trouble trying to download the video off of my phone because of how long a video it was.  It gave us some things to think about and to try next week!

--Tomorrow (Saturday), we will have our first public Confessions since the isolation began.  Confessions will be 1-3pm outside of the Church.  I will arrange the seating so that we are 6 feet apart and isolation can be maintained.  I will also find a way to be hidden behind something so that Confession can still be anonymous....if desired.  For those that do not care about being anonymous, also feel free to call to make an appointment for confession and I will have a safe "isolation compliant" place ready.

--Sunday, the Mass will be posted around noon.  I am not ready to do a LIVE Mass yet, but we will have a full Mass video'd and posted.  I need to know first that the LIVE videos will be able to be saved and posted on all three of our mediums (Facebook, YouTube, and stmichaeldunseith.com) before I start doing the LIVE events.  Next week will be some testing!

--Sunday, we will have RCIA from 1:30-3pm over a shared phone line.  If anyone outside of our RCIA group is interested in listening in please contact me at 244-5738 and I will get your phone number to add you.  The topics this week are:

                             Class #10

-Topic #1  Walking the Christian Life

-Topic #2   Freedom, Happiness and the Second Coming

Stations of the Cross  (Fri., Mar. 27, 2020)

--Until we can get our own Stations of the Cross on video.  I found this Stations of the Cross with Fr. Kevin Vogel.  This video uses the same Stations of the Cross by St. Alphonsus Ligouri that we use....and it is filmed in a way that you feel like you are there...walking around this Church with the priest!  Enjoy!

Wednesday Parish News Mar. 25, 2020

--Today is a very special Solemnity in our Church, the Annunciation of the Lord.  Today, Mary said "yes" to God through the angel Gabriel and Jesus was conceived in her womb...God became man!!!

--Today at Noon, Pope Francis has asked us to say the "Our Father" for the end of the Coronavirus Crisis!

--Today at Noon (after the Our Father), Fr. Michael will travel around Dunseith with Jesus in the Monstrance!  We will bless the neighborhoods and houses of Dunseith.  We will stop and give blessings on the houses of parishioners between 12pm and 1pm....including the North and East Housings, our Day School and Public Schools....and our Nursing Home!

--Today from 2pm to 7pm, St. Michael's Church will be open for "isolated" prayer.  The door at the top of the ramp will be unlocked.  If there are multiple people in the Church, please stay 6 feet from each other!  (The Church is now being opened on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesday from 2-7pm for "isolated" prayer.)

--Lastly, today is also when the Consecration to Jesus through Mary is done!  Unfortunately, because of the isolation, it will have to happen individually.  Take the Consecration Prayer....write it out (preferred) or print it.  Then, find a picture or statue of Jesus....a Crucifix also works.  Read out the Consecration while standing or kneeling in front of Jesus and then sign at the bottom!  The Consecration Prayer can be found....HERE  You call also look at our Consecration to Jesus Page for more information....HERE

NEWS CAST and UPDATES!!!  (Mon., Mar. 23, 2020)

-New St. Michael's YouTube Channel....HERE

-Latest Bulletin can be found....HERE

-Highlights from our Parish News!!!!

---All Public Masses have been canceled....See the Bishop's Directives....HERE

---All Meetings and Groups have been canceled except Parish Council, Finance Council and RCIA.

***These groups will all meet over the phone in a teleconference. (See Bulletin for Details!)

---Wednesday, March 25th is the Annunciation of the Lord!  Several things are happening:

***At noon, Fr. Michael will carry the Blessed Sacrament around the streets of Dunseith...blessing our city and the houses of any parishioners that he passes.  If interested, call the Church at 244-5738.  (Sorry, but only houses in town....the hills will be blessed all at once!)

***Wednesday is also when the Consecration to Jesus through Mary will be done! The Consecration Prayer can be found....HERE

---Even though Adoration is canceled, I have decided to leave the Church open during the normal adoration times.

***The Church will be open Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2pm to 7pm for anyone that wants to do isolated prayer in the Church.  We encourage elders (those over 65) to stay isolated at home, but anyone can pray in the church as long as you stay six feet away from anyone else in the Church.  We will wipe down the pews after Church use.

---Physical Bulletins are available in a cooler on the Rectory porch and in the Church when it is open.  Currently, the only two ways to donate to the Church is by handing the donation to Fr. Michael or placing the donation in the donation box in the Church when it is open.  There is also a way to give donation through this website.

---As soon as next Sunday, I hope to start recording the whole Mass to post on facebook, youtube and on this website.  I have been posting on Facebook the Daily Cathedral Mass from Fargo along with my daily homily.  Starting tomorrow, I will also post these things here on this website.  Currently, I am sharing a priest's video from YouTube for the Stations of the Cross.  But soon, I will find a way to video my own Stations...I am not sure if I will be ready for this Friday.

***I encourage everyone to watch Mass and stay close to God during this time.  If you do not want to watch these shared Masses, then EWTN is fine and a wonderful option to use.  Please note that some of you have smart TVs or streaming devices that will let you watch youtube videos on your television.  It has been so beautiful watching so many priests put their ministries online.  Today, I saw a friend in Mexico....video himself in adoration, so that his church could be in adoration with him.  I saw another priest doing his prayers in front of a camera to let everyone say their prayers with him.  The darker it gets....the brighter the light shines!!!!

-That should be enough for now!!!!  God bless you all!  You and your families are in my prayers and I miss you all!!!  Hold on to Christ....He will get us through!!!  Amen.
